Number of deprived or segregated neighbourhoods or settlements supported
Definition and Methodology
This indicator tracks the total number of deprived or segregated neighbourhoods or settlements supported through the Grants. Deprived or segregated neighbourhoods or settlements are geographically concentrated areas—often at the margins of towns, cities, or in rural regions—where residents, frequently Roma or other marginalised groups, face limited access to public services, poor infrastructure, and social and economic exclusion. These areas may be identified using tools such as the Atlas of Roma Communities in Slovakia or similar national mapping systems.
Support can include: infrastructure (housing, roads, sanitation); access to public services (education, health, social services); legalization/formalization of settlements; community development or integration measures. The support should be clearly linked to reducing spatial segregation, improving equal access, and fostering social inclusion.
This indicator can be customised to country specific context, e.g. referring to particular socially excluded neighbourhoods, marginalised neighbourhoods, etc., while remaining linked to this core indicator.
