Number of local or community-based media outlets supported
Definition and Methodology
The total count of local or community-based media organisations that receive financial or other forms of support through the Grants. Local media encompasses media organisations that serve a particular geographic area or community, such as a town, city, or region. Community media are media platforms managed by or closely tied to community members or organisations, often with a focus on local news, issues, and interests that are typically underserved by mainstream media. Support could be in the form of:
Financial grants: Funds provided directly to media outlets to support operations, production costs, or programme development.
Technical support: Access to equipment, technology upgrades, or digital tools to improve content production and distribution.
Capacity-building: Training for journalists and staff, workshops on journalism skills, digital literacy, or management practices.
Content development support: Assistance in creating specialised programmes, local news segments, or investigative reports that address local issues.
The unit of measurement is cumulative number. Avoid double counting of the same outlet supported several times throughout the period of the Financial Mechanisms.
