Low Cumulative number Customizable

Definition and Methodology

Total count of local elections supported through the Grants. Local elections are elections held to select officials for regional or municipal governance, such as mayors, city council members, county commissioners, or other local administrative positions. They are typically organised by local governments and may also include referendums or initiatives directly affecting the community.

Support to an election should be understood to include activities aimed at improving the quality of the electoral process and its compliance with applicable international/European standards (see this compendium of international standards for elections: https://www.eeas.europa.eu/sites/default/files/compendium-en-n-pdf.pdf). This includes various forms of assistance, such as technical expertise, logistical support, voter education campaigns, capacity-building for electoral bodies, monitoring and observation, or provision of resources like voting materials and technology.
