Number of courtrooms equipped with gender-sensitive facilities
Definition and Methodology
This indicator measures the total number of courtrooms in the supported jurisdictions that meet minimum standards for being gender-sensitive. These courtrooms are equipped with physical infrastructure and facilities designed to ensure safety, dignity, and comfort for women throughout judicial proceedings. Facilities may include, but are not limited to:
a. Separate and safe waiting areas for women;
b. Private rooms for testimony or interviews;
c. Audio-visual equipment for remote testimony (e.g., video links);
d. Signage and materials that are gender-appropriate.
Courtrooms are counted under this indicator only if such facilities are operational, accessible, and used in practice, based on standardised assessment criteria or facility audits aligned with national and European/international standards (e.g., CEDAW, CoE).
