Average estimated time (in days) needed to resolve cases at first instance in the supported jurisdictions

Medium Average Customizable

Definition and Methodology

Average number of days required to resolve cases at the first instance (i.e., at the initial stage of legal proceedings) within the jurisdictions receiving Grants' support. It provides insight into the efficiency and effectiveness of judicial processes, reflecting how quickly courts handle and decide cases without appeals. A shorter resolution time may indicate efficiency, but speed should be balanced with the quality of justice.

Average time: The mean duration (in days) taken from case initiation to resolution.

Estimated time may be based on case data, statistical models, or expert assessments.

First instance refers to the initial trial or hearing before any appeal.

Resolution refers to the issuance of a final judgment, dismissal, or other legally recognized closure of a case.

Calculation method: Average Time (days)= ∑(Resolution Date - Initiation Date) for all cases / Total number of cases resolved
