Number of cases resolved within a reasonable timeframe at first instance in the supported jurisdictions
Definition and Methodology
This indicator measures the total number of legal cases related to domestic and gender-based violence (DGBV) that are resolved at the first instance or first level of court—either through formal prosecution (e.g., conviction, plea agreement, or lawful case dismissal) or through court-annexed mediation—within a legally defined or internationally accepted timeframe in the jurisdictions supported by the Grants. It assesses the efficiency, effectiveness, and responsiveness of the justice system in handling cases while ensuring due process. The definition of a "reasonable timeframe" is based on national legal standards or international benchmarks (e.g., 6–12 months for gender-based violence cases, as recommended by UN Women and CEDAW).
This indicator can be tailored to specific case types, such as:
Number of DGBV cases resolved within a reasonable timeframe
Number of corruption cases resolved within a reasonable timeframe
