Number of land-based habitats with improved ecological status
Definition and Methodology
Total count of terrestrial ecosystems where ecological conditions have demonstrably improved with Grants' support.
Land-based habitats are terrestrial ecosystems, including forests, grasslands, wetlands, and deserts, that support diverse plant and animal life adapted to land environments.
Improvement should be assessed based on factors such as:
a. Biodiversity recovery (e.g., increased native species populations, reduced invasive species)
b. Vegetation health (e.g., forest regeneration, improved soil quality, higher plant cover)
c. Water availability and quality (e.g., restored wetlands, reduced soil erosion, improved groundwater recharge)
d. Pollution reduction (e.g., lower levels of air, soil, or water contamination)
e. Climate resilience (e.g., improved carbon sequestration, reduced desertification, enhanced fire resistance)
