Annual number of domestic and gender-based violence (DGBV) cases resolved at first instance in the supported areas
Definition and Methodology
Total number of domestic and gender-based violence (DGBV) cases that received a verdict or decision at the first level of judicial review (e.g., trial court) in the supported jurisdictions/areas during the calendar year. A case is considered “resolved at first instance” when a final decision is rendered by the competent court, whether it results in conviction, acquittal, dismissal, or any other formal disposition. This indicator helps measure the effectiveness and timeliness of the judiciary in processing DGBV cases and delivering initial justice outcomes for victims and accused parties.
This indicator tracks cases resolved within a single calendar year, ensuring consistency and comparability over time. Given that the unit of measurement is 'annual number', this indicator requires a baseline value.
If your programme targets women, consider making this indicator gender-specific. If not, this indicator should be disaggregated by self-reported gender (in non-binary terms): female / male / other / prefer not to say. Please see the Guidance on the use of the core indicators library.
