CUL-012

Number of self-identified independent Roma artist groups supported

Low Cumulative number

Definition and Methodology

This indicator measures the total number of artist groups or collectives that are both independent and composed of members who self-identify as Roma, and that have received support through the Grants.

Independent artist groups refer to collectives, associations, or networks that operate autonomously—outside of permanent affiliation with public or state cultural institutions—and typically work on a freelance, project-based, or community-driven basis.

Such groups may include:

a. Visual arts collectives (e.g., collaborative painters, sculptors, photographers, digital artists)

b. Performing arts groups (e.g., music ensembles, dance troupes, theatre groups)

c. Craft and traditional arts associations (e.g., artisan cooperatives or Roma heritage networks)

d. Interdisciplinary or multimedia artist collectives

This indicator contributes to tracking progress in Roma cultural empowerment, inclusion, and visibility in the arts sector.

Only groups where a majority of members self-identify as Roma count towards this indicator, based on voluntary and confidential self-reporting. Please see the Guidance on the use of the core indicators library.
