Number of independent artists supported

Low Cumulative number Customizable

Definition and Methodology

Total number of independent individual artists (regardless of ethnicity) who have received Grants' support. This refers to artists working outside of permanent institutional employment (e.g., not on staff at state cultural institutions), who operate on a freelance, self-employed, or project basis.Independent artists may include, but are not limited to:

a. Visual artists (e.g., painters, sculptors, photographers, digital artists)

b. Performing artists (e.g., musicians, dancers, actors, performance artists)

c. Writers and poets

d. Filmmakers and media artists

e. Craftspeople and traditional artisans

Artist groups or collectives are tracked through a separate indicator.

If your programme targets female artists, please use a gender-specific indicator: “Number of self-reported women independent artists supported” in gender equality initiatives. If not, consider disaggregating data by self-identified gender using non-binary options: female / male / other / prefer not to say. Please see the Guidance on the use of the core indicators library.
