This indicator measures the total count of number of membership-based organisations, irrespective of their mission/mandate, that receive Grants support. Membership-based organisations are civil society organizations (CSOs) whose structure is based on individual or institutional membership, where members play a role in governance, decision-making, or benefiting from the organisation's services, and who pursue common goals.

Membership-based organisations can include, for instance, associations, federations and networks (e.g., umbrella organisations of CSOs), and community-based organizations (CBOs). To count towards this indicator, membership must be formalised.

Only count one membership-based organisation per funding cycle.
