Number of strategic litigation cases filed in court by the supported CSOs
Definition and Methodology
This indicator reflects CSOs' engagement in legal advocacy to influence policy, set legal precedents, or protect rights.
Total count of legal cases filed by supported CSOs under the Grants on a topic related to the CSF programme. To be counted, a case must be filed in a recognized legal or quasi-legal body (e.g., courts, tribunals, or regulatory bodies). Strategic litigation cases are specifically designed to achieve broader societal impact beyond the immediate interests of the parties involved, often aiming to set legal precedents, influence policy, or promote systemic change. The case can be on any topic (climate inaction, domestic and gender-based violence, violation of freedom of expression, restrictions to NGOs' operations, etc.) relevant to the CSF programme and brought at any level (local, national, regional, international courts).
