Number of people who signed a CSO-led petition
Definition and Methodology
This indicator reflects increased public mobilisation / activism around an issue and increased level of public support and engagement.
Total count of individuals, including from other countries than the Beneficiary Country, who have signed a petition organised by a supported CSO that focuses broadly on advocating for democratic principles, human rights, gender equality, rule of law, civic engagement or climate action. To count towards this indicator, the petition should be initiated and managed by a CSO supported by the Grants that seeks to influence policy, raise awareness, or advocate for change on issues in line with the CSF programme.
Signatories are individuals from any country who voluntarily add their names to the petition in support of the cause, either physically (in person) or digitally (through an online platform).
The indicator is calculated as the total number of individual signatories who have added their names to a petition. This can be tracked by keeping records of signatures collected in different forms (physical, online, etc.).
To avoid double counting, if the same person signs several petitions, this person should only be counted once.
