Number of consultation processes with a public institution facilitated by CSOs
Definition and Methodology
This indicator reflects increased civic participation and public interest in shaping policies, and more inclusive policymaking.
Total number of consultation processes with public decision-making bodies that are organised or facilitated by supported CSOs. This indicator highlights the role of CSOs in bridging citizens and government to ensure inclusive and responsive decision-making. Public participation can be defined as a process through which the government actively seeks the opinions of citizens (interested and affected groups) for a policy initiative. The consultation processes can be at any level: local or national. Consultation processes refer to structured, interactive forums or processes aimed at gathering input, feedback, or recommendations from stakeholders (e.g., citizens, interest groups, experts) on policy, programmatic, or governance issues. Examples of consultation processes facilitated by CSOs include:
a. Public hearings
b. Town hall meetings
c. Stakeholder workshops
d. Online or offline focus group discussions
e. Surveys or citizen panels contributing to a decision-making process
For consultation processes to count towards this indicator, the supported CSOs must be actively involved in organising, managing, or moderating the consultation processes.
