BUS-017

Number of businesses that have improved the technology readiness level (TRL) of their products or services

Low Cumulative number

Definition and Methodology

Total number of businesses that, with Grants' support, have successfully advanced the Technology Readiness Level (TRL) of their product, service, or process. It reflects progress in the innovation lifecycle, moving from research and development toward commercialization.

Technology Readiness Level (TRL) is a scale (typically from TRL 1 to TRL 9) that assesses the maturity of a technology, from initial concept (TRL 1) to full commercial deployment (TRL 9): https://ec.europa.eu/research/participants/data/ref/h2020/wp/2014_2015/annexes/h2020-wp1415-annex-g-trl_en.pdf

To count towards this indicator, the product, service or process of the supported business must advance by at least one TRL stage, demonstrating progress in feasibility, prototyping, validation, or market readiness.

To measure the indicator, there should be evidence of TRL advancement (e.g., prototypes, pilot testing, certification, market trials), as well as clear documentation of progress, such as technical reports, patents, funding rounds, or commercial deployment.
