Estimated amount of waste that entities reused or recycled (tons)
Definition and Methodology
Total estimated quantity of waste (in tons) that supported entities - businesses and public institutions - have diverted from disposal by reusing materials or recycling them with Grants' support. This includes repurposing waste for new uses, processing materials for reintroduction into production cycles, or sending waste to certified recycling facilities.
Reused waste refers to materials repurposed without significant processing (e.g., refurbished equipment, repurposed packaging).
Recycled waste refers to waste processed into new raw materials (e.g., paper, plastic, metal, electronic waste).
METHODOLOGY
a. Track waste volumes before and after reuse/recycling efforts.
b. Use weight-based estimates from industry standards or actual measurements.
c. Validate data through audits, third-party certifications, or government tracking systems.
d. Aggregate results from all supported entities and report cumulatively, every year.
